How to Pay Rent Online

All tenants are given access to a secure tenant portal, where you can log in and pay rent electronically. This is the preferred method of payment, and it’s available 24/7 from any device.

Steps to pay rent online:

  1. Visit the DFW Rent Houses website and click the Tenant Login link.
  2. Enter your login credentials or create your account using the activation email.
  3. Once logged in, navigate to the Payments section.
  4. Choose your payment method: eCheck (ACH), credit card, or debit card.
  5. Enter the payment amount and confirm your transaction.
  6. Save your confirmation email or screenshot for your records.

You can also set up automatic payments (AutoPay) so rent is withdrawn from your bank account on the same day each month, helping you avoid missed payments and late fees.

Accepted Payment Methods

We accept several payment options through the portal:

  • eCheck (bank transfer/ACH) – Recommended method. No additional processing fee.
  • Credit card – Accepted, but may include a small processing fee.
  • Debit card – Also accepted with possible processing fee.
  • CashPay – For tenants who prefer to pay with cash, we can provide a unique barcode that allows you to pay at participating retailers like Walmart or CVS. Contact our office for setup details.

Please note that cash, checks, or money orders are not accepted in person at our office. All payments must be made online or through a secure, approved method.

Rent Due Date and Late Fees

Your rent is due on the 1st of each month. To avoid late fees, payment must be received and processed by 5:00 PM on the 3rd (unless otherwise stated in your lease agreement).

Late fee policy:

  • A late fee of $75 is charged after the grace period ends.
  • Additional daily late fees may apply until the rent is paid in full.
  • If rent remains unpaid, the account may be referred for lease violation or eviction processing.

To avoid penalties, we recommend setting up reminders or enabling AutoPay through your tenant portal.

Payment Tips and Best Practices

Tip 1 – Schedule Early

Even if your rent isn’t due until the 1st, scheduling your payment a day or two in advance helps avoid issues like bank delays or internet connectivity problems.

Tip 2 – Monitor Your Account

Keep an eye on your tenant portal for payment status updates, especially if you’re not using AutoPay. If a payment fails due to insufficient funds or a typo in your account number, it could lead to late fees.

Tip 3 – Communicate Early

If you’re experiencing a temporary financial issue and expect your rent to be late, contact our office before your due date. We may be able to provide short-term solutions or guide you toward available local resources.
